That pun. I tried. Hahaha.
This year’s CNY was all routine and a little on creating new memories.
New Year’s Eve
No half day for the eve of CNY sadly. But ending at 5pm in school means my family had to come pick me up to head to Rachel’s house for reunion dinner hehe.
For the past few years we have been going for reunion dinner early (like 4+ 5pm) at my maternal side, and then head to Rachel’s house for the next reunion dinner at 7+ 8pm. And usually our family would be so damn full from the first dinner that we hardly eat at Rachel’s house. This time we decided to do the reunion dinner at my (maternal) Ahma’s house early. We had dinner last Tuesday. Had my very much missed fried chicken wings by my Ahma 😛 My mum doesn’t fry stuff at all haha.
We had steamboat at Rachel’s place 🙂 Yumsss. There were taking of videos and pictures for Brenda who is alllllll the way in Canada! Rachel’s dad didn’t make it back to Singapore this time for CNY. So our table was much smaller haha. I haven’t had steamboat in a long while haha steamboat is my favourite!!! I love soupy stuff ^^
We then had some camwhore going on upstairs in Rachel’s bedroom hehe. Took some pictures for her on her holga cam. It will be a long while til I actually see how those pictures turned out LOL. I don’t know when she’s gonna develop those. We hung around in her room, talked until about midnight? Parents stayed around longer with my grandparents, watching the Mediacorp program. We were downstairs during the countdown though. Haha it was rather underwhelming in the house though. since it was only the few of us.
We woke up bright and early at 8+ in the morning! Gosh always have to wake up so early for CNY haha. Everyone scurried to go shower and wash their hair because we didn’t the previous night 😛 Being in a house full of females is a little cray, prepping to leave the house gets a bit chaotic and everyone starts getting angsty LOL. And of course not to mention how annoyed my dad will be seeing how long we take and how we keep running back and forth the halls because we keep forgetting something. Poor daddy.
We had to take a family photo before leaving the house for Rachel’s. Bainian-ed to my grandparents at her house and had breakfast – Usual carrot cake and sponge cake made by my grandmother 🙂 Yummy. Though the milo tastes weird unlike the ones we have at home as usual haha. Some things don’t change right?
Took photos with Ryan. Only cousin from my mum’s side hahaha we’re a small bunch, all cosy 🙂
Headed to my Ahma’s for lunchhh. Practically had the same thing as during the pre-CNY reunion dinner but I enjoyed it a whole lot nevertheless. I grew up eating the food my Ahma cooks, everything is tasty to me. Especially now that she doesn’t live with us anymore, I don’t get to taste her cooking as often!
Went visiting at my grandmother’s sister’s place, where my great-grandmother and granduncle used to stay until they passed away years ago. It’s been a long time since we’ve been there. Met Sean, Meng, Hannah and the rest of the cousins there too haha. Basically snacked all the way there hehe 😮
Spent the rest of the evening + night at Rachel’s house where the adults played mahjong. Rachel and I also got some really good pictures up on her balcony hehe. New profile picture alert whoop whoop! 😉 I think we work really well with each other hahaha. We should do another one of our trips outdoors to take pictures!!
Everyone sitting at the exact same spot hahaha 😉
Hugeeeeee family portrait 🙂 We should do this every year.
初二 started late for my family hahaha. We woke up at 11+pm. And me? I woke up past noon. Was so tired staying up for the past two nights without sufficient sleep LOL -yawns- We went to somewhere at Toa Payoh, like a RC or something, for a gathering with the whole extended family on my dad’s sides. Like the kids and so on of all my grandfather’s siblings heh. The CNY mood is always really heightened when I get there. Big smiles and happiness radiating in the air. Shaking of everyone’s hands, greeting everybody, and of course collecting red packets from the relatives. Year by year we see more people, more children, more spouses, how interesting.
Baby Brian always looking so grumpy why oh why? LOL.
Very lazy Day 2 concluded with us all gathering at Rachel’s house again for the night. This time a few cousins and I went up to the balcony to take photos 🙂 Took some nice photos for the cousins lol. So vain some of them tsktsk. Especially bombastic brothers Sean and Linus 😉 Wearing bright colours all the time gosh, need my shades to protect my eyes hahaha!
“Living life on the edge” Hahaha.
Little Tung being a prop for these boys.
Cousins’ group photos! Haha we look very cute 😉
My favourite photo with Mun hehe ^^ How loving.
Woke up early (okay early for me lah) at 10am and got some workout done! Was so proud of myself hehe 🙂 Didn’t have time to do that the past two days.
Went visiting at my mum’s grandauntie’s place. Which makes her my great-grandauntie. I only see her once a year lol. She lives alone with a maid. So sad right to see old people like this. Went there with my grandfather. Headed to Anchorpoint to have Japanese food because my grandfather haven’t had it for a long time yums.
Well I then left to get home to change to go to Yibo’s house for a CNY celebration his family was hosting. Zijie and Justin came too – Haha I know you guys could have been doing something better with your time but ya’ll were there as my company 🙂 ♥ I was in such a mad rush! Cabbed home and changed and freshened up and then cabbed to Yishun to meet those two because Justin drove so he got us to Yibo’s house. Details will be spared on my evening because I am lazy too haha.
CNY went by too fast and reality of school is hitting me too hard. Sigh tutorials to be done, project titles to be settled on, readings to be read and understood. Omg 🙁 Hoping everyone has a good week ahead! No school on Tuesdays woohoo #bliss. I will use the time to catch up on readings and textbooks -_-
