When news of the Pompompurin Café came out, Raey and I immediately knew that we were going there together when she got back. Exploiting the full perks of unemployment, we managed to escape the crazy weekend queues, and visited the Pompompurin Café on a weekday afternoon for lunch!
ThePompompurin Café is located on the 4th floor of Orchard Central, tucked away in its own corner. Each section of the cosy cafe has a unique seating design. Luckily enough, we got to sit on the Pompompurin cushioned seats! How cuuuuuuuute.
We were immediately overwhelmed by the cute decor – Pompompurin was everywhere! It’s impressive how closely the café stuck to its theme, in every detail. I also found it extra amusing that the staff were passing a Pompompurin plushie around the café for customers to take photos with. Great service there!!
Something I noticed from the menu though: If you want the dish with the mug, it just isn’t as cute as the rest. The menu items with more prominent Pompompurin designs don’t come with the mug. Perhaps it’s a strategy for customers to purchase the less attractive items.
The food looks really great, just like how we saw it from the menu. I went for the Banana & Caramel Pancakes ($16.99), which is one of the cheapest items on the menu, other than the drinks. I didn’t want something too filling, so pancakes were the obvious choice.
Unfortunately, the pancakes didn’t taste as good as it looks. It was pretty dry, and I didn’t enjoy the cream that came with it. If going for pancakes, the Bagel’s Special Pancake Tower ($21.99) would be the better choice.
Anyhoo, I don’t see myself returning to the cafe again. I went, I ate, and I took tons of pictures – that pretty much sums up my visit. Go there once, and take as many pictures as you want! (no one there will judge you! :P)
P.S. I also took the Purin drink coaster as a souvenir, feel free to do the same!
