Soft portraits for a pilates instructor

Angela is a pilates instructor that I’ve photographed for a couple years now. We wanted to try something a little different with the pilates equipment in a studio backdrop. She rented a pilates chair and we experimented with some poses and lighting styles. We went with a simple bright set for some movement shots, and then something softer for more pilates instructor branding shots.

I really liked how the photos turned out for this pilates chair shoot. The lighting made it really soft and elegant, similar to how I see the aura of a pilates instructor. There’s always an air of elegance combined perfectly with strength when I watch the pilates moves being carried out. I hope these photos encapsulated that energy perfectly.
