Surprise proposal at Seoubong Peak, Jeju Island

Coordinating a surprise proposal in a different country is unlike any other. When I got a DM from X at the end of 2024 regarding his plans to propose at Jeju Island, I knew this was going to create a core memory for all of us.

In case you didn’t know, Seoubong Peak on Jeju Island has been one of my favourite shoot locations throughout my three spring trips in a row. Being able to photograph this surprise proposal in the same spot was really the cherry on top that sealed Seoubong Peak as the #1 spot for me!

This surprise proposal at Jeju Island required the most coordinated efforts by far! I had a prior meeting with X to convey the directions to the exact spot on Seoubong Peak I wanted him at, and to lock down our plan to pull off the surprise.

For him, he had the most nerve-wrecking job of keeping a secret from his soon-fiancée, and to lead her to the proposal spot without suspecting a thing. For me, I scouted the location the day before, sent updated directions in the form of photos and videos, and collected a bouquet for the proposal. After all that, I made sure to be on standby around 15-20 minutes ahead of our meeting time so I was ready for the big moment!!!

Trust me when I say I’m always as nervous (if not more) than my clients before their proposal. I was shaking with so much excitement before the moment, and I was so relieved when it all went perfectly to plan! The sunset that evening was absolutely unreal. So happy for the lovely couple!

We carried on with more photos on Seoubong Peak to soak up the moment, before going down to the beach for some last photos after the sun had set. This surprise proposal on Jeju Island was definitely one to remember for a long time!
